Motivation
I (the wiki admin) startet to practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Luta Livre in September 2010. Despite beeing a fan of MMA for years and having a little experience in Judo and Aikido I was overwhelmed (again) by the vast amount of techniques, their complexity and the slow learning progress. Thinking about how to learn faster and to forget less I started to keep a training diary where I wrote down all things I had learned in a recent class. But again I had problems to remember the names of techniques or their nuances. Another problem I had was to understand why techniques work, to set them up and to vary them. I tried web searches every day but was confrontated with confusing terminologies and different approaches to similar techniques.
I ended up creating this wiki to structure, to categorize and to store all my future findings and experiences in an open minded way. I would like to share this wiki with the whole grappling community so that every single person on this planet can benefit from common knowledge and also can contribute writing down common knowledge about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. With your help this will become something good.
